GavelThief is currently under an attack from eBay whereby our servers have all been flagged to bypass CAPTCHA verification upon logging into any eBay account. We have spoken with eBay's Trust and Safety department and confirmed that the company indeed practices reverse-IP lookups as a security measure, and this is likely the cause of our problems.

Why eBay Is Targeting GavelThief

For the past 2 months, we have been the most accurate sniping service in the business. GavelThief has successfully placed over 98% of all bids within 1 second of the users' specified lead times. GavelThief places hundreds of snipes every day and most are within 2-5 seconds of the ends of the auctions. As you can imagine, hundreds of snipes each day from hundreds of users from the same set of dedicated IP addresses is bound to throw up a red flag with eBay. As far as we know, this is the first time that eBay has directly targeted an auction sniping service and attempted to force it to always pass CAPTCHA verification.

What We Are Doing About the Situation

We are working constantly to develop a new way around the issue at hand. For the safety of our customers, we have temporarily taken our sniping systems offline. Because eBay's security systems are kept heavily under wraps, we do not know whether or not users' eBay accounts could be flagged for security reasons if GavelThief attempts to place their bids during this time. Therefore, in our users' best interests, we are taking down our sniping systems for a short while to prevent any possible provocation. As with using any sniping service, it is possible that your eBay account could be placed under review due to the fact that distributing eBay login credentials to a third party is strictly against eBay's policies. The Security of Your Information

If you are a GavelThief member, you can rest assured that all of your information is 100% safe. We are a legitimate auction sniping service, and those that have been with us since the beginning can testify that we've had nothing but good intentions all along. If for any reason you do not feel that your information is secure, you can always contact us and request that we remove your GavelThief account. In doing so, we will completely remove all personal information, eBay login credentials, and any pending auctions from our databases and safety backups. In addition, we will gladly prorate or refund any payments made to GavelThief.
